10 Things to do with Kids in New York

Bronx Zoo New York City

Sometimes the best way to explore a city especially with kids is slow. You start seeing the same place in a new light. Well it is an art to slow down in a city like New York. I’ve met many new yorkers and they laugh when I tell them how similar people from Delhi are to them. The pace of the city is such that to cope up with the fast paced life we become louder than the other person and aggressive to just somehow carve out a space for ourselves in all this chaos. When we travel with our kids we try to balance the day with open spaces and great indoor activities. Here is a list of things we tried in the city …

1. Museums

New York has few of the worlds best museums for children. It’s indoor, fun and above all they learn something new. Just like the movie the kids can stay a night at few of the museums and have a rare opportunity to be up close with the incredible installations

  • Rose Center for Earth and Space,
  • Egyptian Art space at the Metropolitan Museum of Art
  • Hall of Saurischian Dinosaurs at the Museum of Natural History.

****Don’t forget to read up on all the free museum days throughout the week

2. Indoor Amusement parks-

  • Kidz Village,
  • Funtime America

3. Cycling tours-

4. Toy Stores

  • The Lego Store,
  • Disney Store,
  • Dinosaur hill

5. Candy Stores

  • M&M,
  • Dylan’s Candy Bar,
  • Economy candy

6. Places to eat

  •  Chipotle,
  • Nathan’s,
  • McDonald’s,
  • Dunkin Doughnuts,
  • Krispy Kreme
  • Deli’s for salads, breakfast, meals, pizza,
  • Cheese Cake Factory

7. Empire State Building and Rockefeller Centre

8. Macys Store

The area around Times square and 5th Avenue have few of the most incredible shopping stores with window decorations to die for. If you happen to be in New York around christmas don’t miss out the Macy’s window decorations and Macy’s Parade.

Children are living beings – more living than grown-up people who have built shells of habit around themselves. Therefore it is absolutely necessary for their mental health and development that they should not have mere schools for their lessons, but a world whose guiding spirit is personal love.

lostbandar

Lost Bandar belongs to nature and nature belongs to it. To be lost on purpose and to travel with an awareness and sense of belonging is what makes me complete. The Joy of travelling with my wife and daughter makes me more responsible, more aware and lets me plan an adventure, which is challenging and calculated at the same time. Stamps on our passports or boarding passes to places all across are medals for the trips we took, of which we can be proud of for the rest of our lives. We now stop often to admire the world and let nature be our teacher. So I choose to travel to learn and discover. Join my family and me on our next adventure, and together let's get lost in transition. #Beinglostbandar
